Day 2 - No Slithering to Success for the Slugs of Doom

Updated: Sep 21, 2018

Wind is howling around me but I'm feeling pretty good after the first day on my #bloodsugardiet . I've lost a few pounds (yeah, yeah, I know it's only water, but it still counts) and can smugly announce that I lasted through my zumba class and did 600m in the outside pool. It was a glorious day and I made time to laze in the sun for a while.

My seedlings haven't died!

My mum was up and down all night, waking us up. Bit concerned that Dave has to drive to Southampton after so little sleep. She is full of beans and looks very well. She has just enjoyed a breakfast of poached on toast, bacon, tomato and mushrooms, followed by toast and marmalade and washed down with a couple of mugs of coffee. My diet breakfast was poached egg, ultra thin rasher of crispy bacon, tomato and mushroom with half an avocado! And very yummy it was too.

I have heard back from #BaftaRocliffe and am not surprised to hear I haven't been shortlisted, again, for my script of #TheSlugsOfDoom . I had a constructive report though (so Dave tells me) and, although I veer between wanting to give up and just bet all my money on the horses or persevere and improve the script, I guess I will continue with it, otherwise it's been a colossal waste of my time.

To be honest, I think it's more that a few people who've read it say it's good, funny and they liked it that I keep going. The main mantra I hear is remember #JKRowling took 47000(ish) attempts before anyone published her work. So it's slog on, slog on.

I have been quite lucky on the horses recently, in my own very small way. As I have very little spare money I only bet small amounts, but have won over £100 in the last few weeks. I've withdrawn that and plan to use it for another speculative project!

So, that's it for now. Back to my script I guess.
